IMPROVED COMMUNICATION NEEDED TO RESTORE RELATIONS

FRIDAY 15TH MAY 2025

A spokesman for the Russian Federation has commented that communication from the West has been limited and mostly confrontational, not based on restoring relations.

This is, of course, at best, a rough translation of what was said. Anyone who speaks more than one language would know that, often, things don’t translate exactly, no matter how skilled the translator.

An unbiased look at history tells us that major global conflicts may well have been avoided if both sides had have communicated more effectively. South East Queensland News suggests that, if diplomacy is failing between international heads of state, their is a need to promote more dialog between the masses.

To give credit 2 heads of state that are quite central to the issue –

President Donald Trump was focussed on restoring relations when he met with the president of Ukraine after he returned to Office in 2025.

President Vladimir Putin said, in an address to incoming foreign diplomats, shortly after the 2016 election in the United States, something along the lines of “President Trump has stated that he wants to restore a healthy relationship with Russia. We note that this will not be easy to do, but it is something that we will play our part in doing”.

Of course all of this affects plenty of nations outside of Russia and the United States. With what we have learned about global conflict, taking steps to avoid it is the responsibility of everyone on Earth.

Doing things like, taking your best candidate for ambassador to China and employing them as a horrific choice for ambassador to the United States, should probably be avoided.

Doing things like playing sport, or an online game with people from a nation that has somehow become seen as unfriendly, should probably be encouraged (for example).
